Switchboard operates from 10am to 10pm, 365 days a year but if we’re not available to support you and you can’t wait until we are, you can use some of the other services and organisations listed on this page.
We know that finding the right support is important, especially if you need someone to talk to right now.
If you need support and we're not available (and you can’t wait until we are) you can contact some of the other services and organisations below.
*Please note that none of them are a Switchboard service so volunteers will not necessarily identify as LGBTQ+. Their services are open to all.
Childline
Childline is there to help anyone under 19 in the UK with any issue they’re going through. You can talk about anything. Whether it’s something big or small, their trained counsellors are here to support you. Childline is free, confidential and available any time, day or night.

They offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need. They’re here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Shout
Shout 85258 is a free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone who is struggling to cope.

Silver Line
The Silver Line operates the only confidential, free helpline for older people across the UK that’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
